MELFI, Gloria D. (Sbardella) 89, of Cranston passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, July 22. Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late Sossio and Teresa (Martellucci) Sbardella. She was the beloved wife and best friend of Raymond A. Melfi for 66 beautiful years. Gloria graduated from Central High School and was employed as a private Administrative Assistant to the principal/owner of Central Tool Company. Additionally, she served in various administrative roles at General Electric. Gloria was entirely devoted to her family, neighbors and friends with an exceptional gift for the art of writing and tremendous passion for cooking and entertaining. She was a talented and creative baker who received many distinguished awards for her outstanding home baked pies. Besides her devoted husband, she leaves behind a son, Dr. Gregg Melfi and his wife Elizabeth of Swansea, MA and a daughter, Karen (Melfi) Fisco and her husband Ralph of Monarch Beach, CA. She was the loving grandmother of James, Alexander and Christina Melfi. Gloria was the sister of Natalie Reo, Lori Badessa, Audrey Waterman and the late Lucy Vitale. She is also survived by many close sister-in-laws, a brother-in-law and cherished nieces and nephews. Gloria touched countless lives with her loving spirit, beauty, elegance and grace. She will be forever cherished and missed always. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, July 29 at 11:00 AM at St Mary’s Church, Cranston Street, Cranston. Burial will be in St Ann’s Cemetery, Cranston. In honor of Gloria’s wishes, calling hours will be respectively omitted. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Make-A-Wish Foundation, 20 Hemmingway Drive, East Providence, RI 02915.
